MMA Fighting has UFC 231 results for the Holloway vs. Ortega event at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, live blogs of the top fights, and live UFC 231 Twitter updates.

In the main event, UFC featherweight champion Max Holloway will try to defend his title against Brian Ortega.

Valentina Shevchenko and Joanna Jedrzejczyk battle for the vacant UFC flyweight title in the co-main event.

The UFC is back in chilly Toronto, Ontario tonight with an intriguing card offering some of the best fights currently available in MMA. Two belts are on the line at the Scotiabank Arena (Formerly the Air Canada Centre) and we are guaranteed to see at least one new champion crowned.

In the main event slot we have Max Holloway, returning after a year out, to defend his UFC featherweight title versus the undefeated challenger Brian Ortega. Holloway has battled health problems as of late, but at this time of writing he has made weight and is ready to defend his belt against someone other than Jose Aldo (who he has beaten in back to back fights). Will Holloway roll and show he’s this generation’s best featherweight or will Ortega steal his shine and prove that he’s the king at 145 lbs.

The co-main pits Valentina Shevchenko against Joanna Jedrzejczyk, who she has beat multiple times in the Muay Thai ring, for the vacant UFC flyweight strap. That belt was confiscated from inaugural winner Nicco Montano earlier this year, when she couldn’t show for her first defense versus Shevchenko. Is Joanna going to be Champion again or will ‘Bullet’ Shevchenko claim the crown?

Rounding out the main card are three fun match-ups that promise action and possibly devastating stoppages. There you’ll find Alex ‘Cowboy’ Oliveira vs. Gunnar Nelson (welterweight), Hakeem Dawodu vs. Kyle Bochniak (featherweight), and Jimi Manuwa vs. Thiago Santos (light heavyweight).

Headlining the FS1 prelim card is a women’s strawweight bout between Claudia Gadelha and Nina Ansaroff. Before that Olivier Aubin-Mercier fights Gilbert Burns at lightweight, Katlyn Chookagian faces Jessica Eye at flyweight, and Elias Theodorou clashes with Eryk Anders at middleweight.

The UFC Fight Pass prelims include four fights tonight. That portion of the event begins at 6PM ET and starts with light heavyweights Devin Clark and Aleksandar Rakic. Also on the card is a lightweight clash between Carlos Diego Ferreira and local late replacement Kyle Nelson, a welterweight bout between Chad Laprise and Dhiego Lima, and a bantamweight fight pitting Brad Katona against Matthew Lopez.
